You have come to the right place!
My ceremonies are custom made to suit each couple - spiritual or non-religious (civil), large or small, simple or traditional/formal. I have something for everybody! I know how much work and stress can sometimes go into wedding planning. Most of the time the bride and groom have to fit in this planning while working full-time jobs or going to school or both. I believe I take the stress out of planning the ceremony by coordinating the details and providing options for you and hopefully making it fun and easy. I don't require you to fill out any forms. I ask all the questions and do most of the work for you.
If you are looking for a very experienced minister/wedding officiant, but you don't belong to a church, and you don't want a courthouse wedding either, please contact me. I would like to create a beautifully joyous and memorable ceremony which would be the perfect way to start your fabulous day - whatever you imagine that to be!
Many couples come to me with a somewhat apologetic tone to their voice saying, "we are not very religious." That's ok! It is the reason why I am here performing wedding ceremonies! Not everyone wants to be married in a church. I get it. I believe if you love each other and want to be married, you should have that freedom to be married wherever and however you would like. There are many couples who don't belong to a particular church or don't want to follow the constraints of the church. The couple may be from different religions or have no religious affiliation at all. I want you to enjoy a ceremony which is meaning full to you. I strive to perform a well-articulated service which is a reflection of your values and beliefs. About 40% of my couples have not wanted to me to use the word"God" during their service, so then I create a romantic "civil" ceremony all about celebrating your love and your commitment.
This is such a happy time in your lives and I would like to share in your excitement. Since 1999 I have worked with more than 800 couples performing wedding ceremonies in all different places with most locations being in southeastern Wisconsin. I am happy to state that many of those couples became my personal friends. I love what I do and enjoy the couples I marry. (It is very rewarding when the couple asks me to baptize the child born from their union.) Because I have been in so many different situations and so many different places, I bring all kinds of ideas and suggestions for your ceremony to flow smoothly. I am not just a minister who shows up. I do not have standard ceremonies for you to choose from. Each wedding is unique.
Where do we start?
When you contact me, we begin with a phone discussion so we can determine what you would like. If you are in the Temecula/Riverside area, I like to schedule to meet in a public location for a no-obligation, in-person consultation. I have found that the majority of couples still like to meet their officiant too. It is nice to know there is a real person behind all this internet stuff! If you would like me to perform your ceremony, a deposit is required. I then provide suggestions and will coordinate all the details of your ceremony with you from start to finish. I email a confirmation letter, my list of over 50 choices for your wedding vows, exchange of rings vows and readings. You can use what I have or I can incorporate new written material or something you have written or found. We discuss a sample order of service and all the options available to you. Some of the details we will discuss are the seating of parents, any stepparents and grandparents, the processional (walking in), if there are children coming into the marriage and how to involve them, music coordination, recessional (walking out) and who will stand in the receiving line if there is one. I walk you through every detail of your ceremony time and nothing is left unattended. I usually will have a second meeting with the couple, if possible, to finalize the details. You are welcome to phone, email or text me so I can answer any questions. I choreograph and direct your rehearsal if there is a rehearsal. I like to perform my own rehearsals as much as possible. A rehearsal usually takes about 30-60 minutes practicing the processional, recessional, readings and music (if available) one or two days before the wedding. Some ceremonies do not require a rehearsal on a day other than the wedding. At those weddings we do a short walk-through about an hour before the wedding with whomever is available. But I have all the details very organized. Some venues don't have any other staff but me to coordinate the ceremony. I want your ceremony to look effortless no matter where it is located and how many staff there are or are not.
What if your ceremony is a smaller ceremony?
I also do shorter, intimate ceremonies where the wedding couple gather with their witnesses and a few guests. A rehearsal is not needed. I offer those ceremonies at lower fees (depending on the location) because those don't require the same amount of my time. If you are comfortable with not meeting, we don't even have to meet. Our work can be done by phone and email. A deposit is required.
Do you live out of state?
Through the years, I have found I am performing more and more weddings for couples coming from out of state. We can easily do everything by phone or email. You are responsible for applying, paying for and picking up the marriage license. If you will be in the area and would like to meet, I will happily schedule a time to meet. I like to get to know my couples.
Do I require premarital classes or counseling?
I do not require any premarital classes. Of course, I would like you to feel secure that you are compatible and know each other well, but I do not require you to go through any counseling or classes.
What are my fees?
My fees for wedding ceremonies in the Temecula/Riverside area usually range from $150 - $400. Rehearsals are usually an additional $75 - $100. Every ceremony I perform is different, and all couples have different needs and require different amounts of my time.
LOCATION is a factor especially here in southern California.
Day of the week and time of day are also factors in determining a fee. Are you getting married on a Wednesday morning with no rehearsal? Or, are you getting married on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm with a Friday late afternoon or early evening rehearsal? Often I arrive about 45 minutes before the start or the ceremony to sign the marriage license and coordinate processional and recessional music and any other parts of the ceremony. A $100 deposit is required to hold the date and time of the wedding ceremony and rehearsal.
I might have to add some kind of travel fee depending on how far I need to drive to get to your location. I live in Menifee, CA which is between Temecula and Riverside on I-215.
This is just an overview to give you some basic information. Please contact me and let's talk! There is no obligation. I would love to hear from you about your wedding or vow renewal ceremony!
Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness,
Rev. Jane Stewart
A light snowfall to add to the romance of this winter wedding!
